Niecy Dillon-Tyrovolas is the Rotary District Governor for 7070 for July 2025 to June 2026 and was very appreciative of the invitation to speak to the Rotary Club of Belleville on July 31, 2025. The District Governor started by saying thank you to the Club and the members for serving the community as Rotarians. Rotary runs on the passion and energy of the membership. This Rotary Year's slogan is Unite For Good and it is safe to say it's not just a slogan. Together, united, Rotary can do much more, do good together. That is the message Rotary wants to publicize in every community. Internationally, Rotary is taking action for change as their Rotary Action Plan, a strategic road map that will help Rotary better connect with each other, grow as an organization and more effectively share the stories of how Rotary is making a difference in communities. Together Rotary sees a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe in our communities and in ourselves.There are four pillars to the Rotary Action Plan and they are:
- Impact - Rotary wants to put their resources behind programs that will have the greatest impact and that align with Rotary's areas of focus. Real impact is something that resonates well beyond the work Rotary does on a project. It's sustainable long after Rotary has left the scene. What do we need to start doing? What do we need to continue doing? What do we need to stop doing?
- Reach -- Rotary is committed to exemplifying and embracing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in everything Rotary does. Let's share our values with new audiences, create new ways to bring people together to experience the power of Rotary and prove we are an organization that's inclusive, engaging, compassionate and ambitious on behalf of the world.
- Engage -- Rotary is tearing down the walls between "us" and "them" and focusing on participants. How do people want to participate? How can Rotary meet them where they are and make sure they know Rotary values them? Let's use every encounter as an opportunity to show people what Rotary can do for them as individuals and as members of our communities.
- Adapt -- Rotary is streamlining operations so that Rotary can be more agile and responsive. Let's work to create a culture of research, innovation and willingness to take risks in our club to better serve our community.
