John Smale and Dianne Spencer presented the Robert Michaud Bursary Award to this year's outstanding recipient Brett Lyons.  Bob Michaud was most passionate about sports, business, and GOLF and has made it possible for the club to present a bursary each year to a Loyalist student who has distinguished his or herself and aligned themselves with Bob's attributes in business, committed to whatever he did.  Dianne Spencer introduced Brett Lyons, an outstanding young man who exemplifies excellence in sportsmanship, community spirit, and entrepreneurship.  Brett  has cerebral palsy, yet participated in wheelchair rugby, fishing, sailing, and as an Easter Seals poster boy.  Although challenged and confined to a wheelchair, Brett proved to all he is not intellectually disabled.  In June 2016 he graduated from Loyalist College Business Administration program and is currently enrolled in Entrepreneurial studies, a post-grad certificate program at Loyalist College.  He invented an adjustable bathroom grab bar for seniors or those with disabilities and worked with Queen's University to design and test it.  He is on the wait list to pitch it to Dragon's Den at Loyalist College and received $4,000 awarded from Queen's University Innovation Centre. Carol-Lynne Michaud was on hand to meet Brett and offer her congratulations (pictured L to R:  Shannon Neely, Anne Marie Vaughan, Carol-Lynne Michaud, Dianne Spencer and John Smale with Brett Lyons).
